The Innovation Booster Robotics was active from 2021 to 2025 as a Swiss initiative supported by Innosuisse. This website is its legacy page. Throughout its duration, the Booster created and strengthened a national community fostering an open innovation culture in robotics. It brought together key players across academia, industry, startups, and public stakeholders to explore new ideas, catalyze collaborations, and accelerate technology transfer and innovation.
Although the Innovation Booster Robotics program has concluded, our mission continues through the Swiss Robotics Association (SRA), a standalone initiative dedicated to serving as a national networking hub for robotics stakeholders across Switzerland and fostering long-term collaboration, visibility, and impact. Development of a 360° camera-based mid-air collision avoidance system for small drones that can be certifiable under current BAZL (Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation) regulations and establish a new standard in airspace safety.
The Autonomous Systems Lab (ASL) at ETH Zurich, led by Prof. Dr. Roland Siegwart, focuses on creating intelligent robots and systems that are able to operate autonomously in complex and diverse environments. The Vision for Robotics Lab (V4RL), led by Prof. Dr. Margarita Chli and with researchers at both ETH Zurich and the University of Cyprus, specialises in robotic vision-based perception and has developed a strong expertise in working with small Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) over the past 10 years.
Avientus is an ETH Zurich spin-off revolutionizing aerial logistics through a fully autonomous drone delivery system. Its patent-pending fixed-wing VTOL UAVs and automated payload handling enable bi-directional transport of up to 25 kg over 50 km with superior payload- and energy-efficiency. Founded by ETH Zurich alumni with expertise in aerospace and robotics, Avientus provides a cost-effective shift from traditional cargo transport to scalable drone logistics for remote, medical and industrial supply chains.
